“Education is the most Powerful Weapon we can use to Change the World”…
– Nelson Mandela
Committed to change the face of education, Rajasthan CM unveiled her ‘first of its kind’ academic fest Jaipur Education Festival this Monday. It’ll be held in collaboration with corporate partner GEMS (a private company). While addressing a rally on December 19, at the curtain raiser ceremony in Hayat Regency, New Delhi, CM Vasundhara Raje raised an important question for us to mull over.
“If the British pm’s son can study in the same classroom as the son of a carpenter, why can’t it happen in India?”, she asked.
The CM took this opportunity to lay down the playfield for her upcoming ambitious project on education.
Jaipur Education Festival will Revamp Traditional Academic Practices
Rajasthan was struggling with low literacy rates and the highest number of high-school drop-outs in the country. Raje, who was determined to change this reality proposed 2-day Jaipur Education Festival that is scheduled in April 2017. After Jaipur, Rajasthan government will organise it in remaining 7 division.
As per a recent survey, youngster constitute of about 60% population of India. Taking it into account, Raje government is hopeful that it’ll expose Rajasthan students to global educational concepts and opportunities. Educational reform is the need of the hour and Raje government had left no stone unturned to improve the existing infrastructure.
As reported by Rajasthan education minister Vasudev Devnani, government schools have set a milestone in the field of education.
- 12 lakh new students enrolled in government schools last year.
- Sagacious students from a humble background (children of labours and truck drivers) have set an example by scoring high marks in national-level competitive exams.
- Raje government had dissolved ‘ghost’ schools and laid the foundation of new 9,895 ‘Adarsh’ schools and 9,610 ‘Utkrisht’ schools in Rajasthan.
- The government had announced 9895 ‘Vivekanand model’ schools in their Suraj Sankalp Yatra. Out of these, they’ve successfully constructed 1340 schools. 3970 projects are progressing towards completion and 5458 schools will be established by the end of 2018.
- Additionally, the government has established 12 digital centres for e-learning and 1870 ITIs to promote technical training.
However, the CM isn’t satisfied with these accomplishments yet. Aiming for advanced educational infrastructure, the CM had signed MoUs with GEMS to create a high-quality academic structure which could be accessed by poor families. The CM invests great hope in Jaipur Education Festival and sees it as a constructive platform to introduce fresh concepts in government schools like—
- Global classrooms,
- Parent teachers meeting,
- Co-curricular activities and meets,
- Interactive learning.
Seeing her endeavours, we’re hopeful that Rajasthan will emerge as the leading academic capital of India.
