The weather forecast department has issued an alert for Rajasthan. It has issued warning for the heavy rainfall in districts of Alwar, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, Bharatpur, Bhilwara, Bundi, Dholpur, Tonk and Jaipur. This has made the state disaster team alert. In fact, district collectors and the State Disaster Response Force have been asked to remain on alert. Considering the rainfall statistics, there were 433.38mm rains in Rajasthan from June 1 to September 3 this year. The normal rains in the state are 461.35mm. On comparing with the same period last year, the state had received 484.37mm rains.
Rainfall statistics
As per the water resources department, there were no districts in scanty category in this year or in previous year. This year, four districts(Bharatpur, Bikaner, Sawai Madhopur and Sikar) are in excess category while 18 districts (Alwar, Banswara, Baran, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Churu, Dausa, Dholpur, Dungarpur, Ganganagar, Jaipur, Jhalawar, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Kota, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand and Udaipur) are in normal category. There are 11 districts (Ajmer, Barmer, Bundi, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Pali, Sirohi and Tonk) which fall under deficit category.
Rajasthan has a total of 831 small and big dams, with the total capacity of 12902.35 million cubic metre. Of the total number of dams, 85 are full, 411 are partially full and 335 are empty.
