Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has yet again approved the proposal of assigning the solar photovoltaic (SPV) pump set program to the Horticulture Department. A proposal was made by the Department of Energy, in this regard. The state government decided to hand over the SPV Pumpset Program to Horticulture department in the best interest of the farmers.
It’s important to note that the SPV pumpset program is generally operated by the Energy Department in several states of the country. Considering this, the order was issued in order to ensure the operation of electricity distribution corporations in Rajasthan as well.

Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nagar Limited (JVVNL), the electricity supply board of Rajasthan, had already invited tenders for the same. After this, some SPV pumpset suppliers turned to the High Court. Consequently, the government was given stay order by the court.

Considering the stay orders issued from High Court, the state government decided to abide by them and made sure that the farmers’ interests were not affected. So, in this financial year, the government has yet again given the SPV Pumpset Program to the Horticulture Department.
As far as the Solar Photovoltaic Pumpset technology, it’s an essential element in the advanced agricultural practices. It makes use of solar energy and thus doesn’t harm the environment. Moreover, it’s also very economic from the users’ point of view.
