This is the incident of the Baran district of the state of Rajasthan where a Congress leader was based to death by some unidentified assailants. It is suspected that they did this due to some political rivalry. Police was informed about the incident and after a little investigation police said, “Sonu Goyal (33) had a political rivalry with some local men. He was attacked with batons last evening in Devri area. He died in the attack,” though police did not name the suspects.
Sonu Goyal was the Congress General Secretary of Shahabad Block unit in Baran district. Also police informed that his wife is a local Sarpanch. After the incident his dead body was taken to a nearby local hospital where the doctors conducted the postmortem. Police told that no arrests has been made in this case so far.
Sachin Pilot, PCC President and congress leader has demanded a strict and high level inquiry. He also condemned Goyal’s murder. Pilot said, “the party has constituted a three-member fact finding committee which will visit Baran and meet his family tomorrow.”
