The death of over 500 cows in two weeks in Rajasthan is making headlines in the national media and the entire world seems to be demanding answers from the BJP led Rajasthan Government. The party in opposition, Congress, is treating this incident an opportunity to gain political advantage. They are again and again throwing the issue in media and blaming the current Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Only a few know the real facts of the entire matter. It is said that the death of our cows is not an issue of sentiment and concern for Congress, rather an excuse so that people can forget what has happened in the last 60 years of misgovernance and ignorance of the Congress.
It is true that Cows have died in Hingonia but nobody counted to check the reasons why so many cows died in Hingonia Rehabilitation center. Oh My India has brought to you the real facts of Hingonia Gaushala:
- As the name suggests, Hingonia Rehabilitation Center is to rehabilitate all cows. The cows in Hingonia shelter are not born there, rather they are brought there as their owners leave them stranded the on streets and they become ill, age or need medical attention. It is then the duty of Government of Rajasthan to take care of them.
- Hingonia Rehab Center has a 24X7 working ICU for the cows, which are brought in the urgent need of a medical emergency. A specific team of veterinary doctors is appointed for providing complete medical facility to the cows, so that they could be saved with proper treatment and no negligence happens when an urgent operation is required.
- The polyethylene we use in our everyday life is disastrous for our nature and for the street animals that eat these polythenes when hungry. As per expert veterinary doctors, the main reason behind a cow’s unnatural death is due to swallowing polyethylene from the domestic garbage lying on streets. There are events when doctors have operated cows in Hingonia and have found around 10 kg to 60 kg polyethylene in their stomach. Almost all the cows in the rehab of Hingonia come with this problem; polyethylene creates poison in their stomach which consequently leads to their deaths. As a society, it is our foremost priority to discourage use of plastic and polyethylene.
- As far as the Vasundhara Raje Government is concerned, they made every effort to save cows from such horrible deaths and therefore have started an ambulance for cows, which bring them straight to the rehabilitation center so that they can be treated in time.
The Raje Government has made no attempts at making cover-ups and that’s why Vasundhara Raje personally took strict actions against the guilty and immediately fired the Deputy Commissioner and Cowshed Incharge for being negligent towards the center.
But, is the ‘dying cow’ a problem of the BJP Governmenton Rajasthan or CM Vasundhara Raje only? States like, Arunachal Pradesh, many Mithuns have died due to an epidemic and the Congress government didn’t take any steps to save them. In Himachal Pradesh, the horrendous reports of cattle fighting events being organized along with the cattle mafia and cattle smuggling. The capital city of Tamil Nadu, Chennai has a huge number of animal slaughterhouses which are illegal. Assam has also witnessed the killing of various endangered species like Bengal Tigers and Rhinoceros. Other states having Congress Governments like Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Kerala, etc. have no ban on cow slaughter. Coming back to Rajasthan, a similar event has happened before in the year 2012 during the Government of Congress and following facts relating to it would also need a look:
- Congress leader, Jyoti Khandelwal, the ex-mayor of Jaipur Municipal Corporation for 2009-14, never even visited Hingonia Rehabilitation Center till That time, a Court Commissioner had filed many reports including photographs in High Court asking that Ashok Gehlot-led Congress Government must take proper action for saving cows in Hingonia, as that time, the death rate had reached new high at 30 to 40 percent.
- In August 2011, High Court ordered Principal Secretary G. S. Sandhu to visit Hingonia Center and take corrective actions for transforming the condition of a center from a private camp to a Government running Rehabilitation
- On 17.08.2012, after High Court’s order, Jyoti Khandelwal visited the center for the first time but for all the wrong reasons. She provoked the employees to go on a strike during heavy rains which resulted in a complete halt in the working of Hingonia Rehabilitation Center. She even asked the fodder supplier to stop the delivery and made a statement in media that the fodder stock will end in two days.
- Her barbarity didn’t stop here; she even made a false statement that the doctors are not working properly in the shelter. She only employed one veterinary doctor Padam Singh and one compounder Moinudeen from Nagar Nigam, whereas the rest of the veterinary doctors’ team was employed by the High Court. Jyoti Khandelwal fired the only compounder at the time of the strike and never employed anyone in his place.
- Ex-mayor also caused hindrances with the appointment of new staff of doctors and compounders.
- After the intervention and direction of High Court, the workers were somehow been compensated on 19.08.2012 and hence, even after various negative efforts of Jyoti Khandelwal, the strike of workers ceased after receiving their salaries.
This leads us to the conclusion that Congress party and Ashok Gehlot is only affectionate and concerned about the politics of cows and not really bothered about the real, alive cows. The Congress has started comparing Hingonia to Jallianwala Bagh, which is a disrespect of India and our brave hearts who gave up their lives in the tragic incident. Congress might have forgotten that during their reign, the Rehabilitation Center saw cow deaths at 16.56% and 16.46% ratio in the year 2009 and 2010 respectively. Whereas, during the BJP rule, the figures went down to 9.76% and 11.28% ratio in 2014 and 2015 respectively. If Congress party can be insensitive and ignorant of the people of India since past 60 years, we definitely can’t expect them to be logical and caring for cows.
Coming back to Hingonia, the Raje Government has taken the matter rather seriously with CM Vasundhara Raje herself at the helm of the affairs. It makes sense that an organization such as Morarji Bapu’s or Sachcha Sauda be given this job since they’re bound to be more sensitive and humane to the issue. As far as Congress is concerned, they really should stop playing the “Dirty low Politics”.
