You cannot understand a city without using its public transportation system. The largest state of the country definitely needs to work on the transportation system, given the number of domestic and international tourists visit the state every year, and also for the state residents. Keeping in mind everything, Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje took some crucial steps in the review meeting with the department of transportation. She directed the automation and integration of all driving schools and driving tracks of the state and has directed that they would be operated under the PPP (Public private Partnership). She further directed the officials of all the divisional headquarters including the capital city Jaipur, to review the public transport system. Every decision was taken to provide the public with facilities easily.
In the review meeting at her residence in Jaipur with the department of transportation, she directed the officials to get everything computerised in the offices as she emphasised on the fact that a computerized system in the regional transportation offices will allow the public from being able to get rid of the brokers. She said, “Thus the driving license and vehicle registration and other related functions must be automated in all the transportation offices as soon as possible. Additionally, by adding these offices to driving schools should be operated on the PPP mode as the Punjab model.”
Chief Minister Raje, under the Rajasthan Bus port authority has directed to immediately begin work on the development projects at the Jaipur, Ajmer and Udaipur bus terminals. She said that these bus terminals should be developed like an airport and facilities like rest house, cinema theatre etc should be developed for the travellers. CM Raje directed the concerned authorities to immediately begin the developmental work at the Sindhi Camp bus stand and Hirapura bus stand in the capital city Jaipur and various other bus terminals on Ajemr and Udaipur. For the same, CM Raje has welcome one tender for Jaipur and different tenders for Ajmer and Udaipur respectively.
In the meeting, transport minister Younis Khan, Additional Chief Secretary PWD Mr. DB Gupta, Principal Secretary Finance Mr. PS Mehra, Principal Secretary Transport Mr. Shailendra Agrawal, Rajasthan Roadways Managing Director Mr. Rajesh Yadav, Mayor of Jaipur Shri Nirmal Nahata, Jaipur City Transport Services Ltd Managing Director Mr. Naresh Sharma and other officials were present.
