CM Vasundhara Raje inaugurated “Aashayein The Jail Shop” which intends to sell the productions made by detainees of the Jaipur Central Jail Premises.
During this inauguration event, CM Raje viewed the various commodities made by the detainees which included quilts, bedcovers, pickle, cushions, and even paintings. CM Raje praised the details of these designs, quality and fineness. She also viewed the fruits and vegetables grown with the help of fully biological system. She even praised the works of Devkishan and other detainees who do wall paintings on front walls of the jail shop.
With this CM Raje also inaugurated 145 water coolers and 30 R.O. fittings provided by Rajendra and Ursula Joshi Foundation with ribbon cutting.
This is one remarkable thing that the designs and productions made by the detainees are supported by textile sector specialist Mr. Martand Singh, retired teachers of NID Ahmadabad and painter Mr. Yashwant Shrivastava played an important role. In last one year, Jaipur jail premises have produced 130 quintal of vegetables and have made them available to detainees’ mess.
On this occasion of inauguration, Home Minister, Gulab Chand Kataria, ACS Home Mr. Deepak Upreti, DGP Mr. Manoj Bhatt, DG Jail Mr. Ajit Singh with police, senior officials of the Department of Administration and Prison were present to encourage this innovative attempt.
This is a commendable effort attempted by the jail authorities where the prisoners will get new ray of hopes. Not only this, this will also add to the productivity factor in the state. The life of prison do not have to be empty from hopes. keeping this in view, this pioneer attempt have been made the authorities. The jail shop is not a new concept but by according to this new attempt in the state, CM Raje have given a helping hand in the development of the state.
