Rajasthan Higher Education Department is soon going to launch Guru Shishya Samvad program in colleges. The revelation was made by Higher Education Minister Kiran Maheshwari on Wednesday while she was talking about the department’s achievements on completing 4 years of BJP in the state.
It’s a student-teacher dialogue program that will be aimed towards addressing the problems faced by students in their colleges. Each district will have a nodal college for organizing the program and only meritorious students or those elected to student unions in these meetings. Initially, the Guru Shishya Samvad would be launched at Poddar College in Jaipur on December 11 and later it will be introduced in other districts.

Apart from this, several other plans were shared by the minister regarding the improvement in the field of education.
Funds Allocation
More funds are to be provided to the colleges and universities. The colleges will be given INR 6 Crores for building construction as opposed to the INR 3 Crores amount sanction earlier. Moreover, the state universities have been sanctioned to fill up 500 teaching and 700 non-teaching staff by March 2018.
Employment
Furthermore, in order to ensure employment opportunities, the department has started a placement cell that will be offering placement to 450 students. The industry interaction cells will also be opened to study the needs of the industry and students will be trained accordingly.

Other Initiatives
Other valuable initiatives by the department include the free app UPER for students, 16 new courses launched jointly with IGNOU, and Dishari scheme offering coaching for students at INR 500. Then there is Shiksha Drishti, an education portal that informs the students about exams, admissions, and placements.
Faculty Recruitment
The Rajasthan Government is going to end the interview procedure for the recruitment of faculty in state-run colleges. Now onwards, the process is likely to be simplified by using a written examination as a yardstick for their selection.
