Passengers will soon have access to a new class of ‘Economy AC coaches’ which will be priced fairly below with the normal 3AC tariff.
As per the proposal, the new AC train will have three-tier Economy AC coaches besides AC-3, AC-2 and AC-1 classes. The three-tier economic AC coach is the major addition to the railways.
Not only this, the trains will sport automatic doors which will add to the comfort and luxury quotient of the trains.
Passenger’s convenience: The top most priority
Keeping the passenger’s convenience as a top priority, the AC coaches in the new trains will have a temperature around 24-25 degrees. Due to this, passengers will have an added benefit that they will not require blankets.
New AC trains introduced in the past
Currently, mail and express trains have Sleeper, Third AC, Second AC and First AC classes while Rajdhani, Shatabdi and recently introduced Humsafar and Tejas trains are fully air-conditioned.
The Railways department will facilitate easy and cheap travel for maximum passengers, thereby ensuring that maximum people reap the benefits of this new train proposal.
The railways exploring an idea to introduce fully AC trains in select routes, aiming to provide comfort by facilitating AC travel for maximum passengers.
Statement from Railways Ministry
“There will not be any chilling effect like in other AC classes and the temperature will be fixed around 24-25 degrees. The aim is to make the passengers comfortable and not make them feel the outside heat,” said a senior railway ministry official.
