Swine flu death toll is rising day-by-day. More than 40 deaths reported in just 16 days of January this year, which is the highest so far. The Congress party, when in opposition, use to blame the previous government for epidemic deaths. When they have come to power, the newly-appointed Health Minister Raghu Sharma’s focus is on the blazer of medical students.

When in opposition, the Congress party alleged former BJP government for not taking concrete steps to control swine flu and used it to woo voters. Now they say, ‘Swine flu is not deadly.  People can stay away from getting infected with the H1N1 virus if they follow some necessary precautions.’

Coming to the point, Resident doctors, medical staff and undergraduate students of Sawai Man Singh Medical College, Jaipur will now be required to follow a blue dress code, including donning blazers worth Rs. 3000 of the same color.

The medical college implemented the dress code on Friday, which is also applicable to those serving in the hospitals attached to the college. Staff and doctors have to wear blue blazers worth Rs. 3000 of the brand “Raymond”. The college management has also issued a list of stores where orders for clothes can be placed.

On this decision, Rajasthan Health Minister Raghu Sharma said that there was no need for taking such measures and the matter is under consideration. ‘There was no use of taking such a decision, it is a local matter. I have already talked about it and the decision is of no use.’ Minister Sharma said.

Should Swine flu not be the top priority for the health minister to discuss?
