A good health is the best wealth a man could achieve. But due to changing weather patterns and climate, a number of seasonal diseases are causing severe health damage to the masses. Despite taking caution and preventive measures, the state was always lagging behind in terms of health safety.
One of the major tasks in disease prevention is to identify risk factors and educating the common man about it. Research have shown that even though people are aware about the risk factors of a disease, they often hesitate to change their behaviour in order to lower that risk.
This time, Rajasthan’s State Government has taken the bait in its hand to eradicate the seasonal diseases and making public aware of the precautionary measures to lead a healthy life. Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has made the Malaria Test compulsory in the state hospitals. The Health Department and the Jaipur Municipal Corporation are also taking preventive measures to put off the spread of the deadly seasonal diseases by conducting fogging and anti-larvae activities all around.
According to CM Raje, nothing much can be accomplished by an exclusive focus on individual disease and risk factors. The success in preventing many infectious diseases has been attributed to timely precautions and subsequent improvement in the environment.
Awareness is important for treatment; hence during a meeting of health department officials, Scouts & Guides and NCC cadets are asked to rope in to spread awareness on seasonal diseases. The Rapid Response Teams formed by the state authorities are headed towards the remote areas where such infections are spreading to provide medical treatment to patients.
Rajendra Rathore, the State Medical and Health Minister, has directed the government hospitals to stock sufficient amount of medicines and asked the District Medical Officers to regularly visit all healthcare centres to ensure the presence of doctors and paramedical staff. He also stressed on the fact that officials should make optimum utilization of resources available to them to prevent the spread of the seasonal diseases. The health department has increased the resources by seeking funds from the Centre.
The health department along with the Jaipur Municipal Corporation has conducted anti-larvae activities from 1st April 2016 to 14th May 2016. Anti-Larvae Activity uses Gambusia fish in the mosquito larvae infected water bodies. The fish eats the larva which helps in decreasing the mosquito population and subsequently declining the spread of vector-borne diseases. 786 fogging machines are also available upto the Block level.
Moreover, DDT Spray have been administered in rural areas in two rounds. The first round was conducted from 15th May 2016 to 31st July 2016. The second round began from 1st August 2016 till 15th October 2016.
Mr. Rathore, also made a surprise visit to Sawai Man Singh Government Hospital to inspect and monitor the working of the hospital. He made sure to increase the number of Medical unit per day from one to three and also asked to add fifteen more doctors to help the hospital with the treatment procedures. Similarly six doctors were recommended for Jaipuria Hospital and Gangori Hospital each.
Unlike the last government which made several health schemes and failed to implement them, the present state government is making efforts to eradicate the diseases from the grass root level and had made Eliza Test Facility available at all district Hospital free of cost. This test will be effective for dengue, chikungunya and scrub typhus.
According to the health minister Rajendra Rathore, out of 693 Chikungunya cases no deaths has been reported so far.
