Government Officers Gift Bapu a Spick and Span Rajasthan on Gandhi Jayanti This Year…
Rajasthan has always had a welcoming approach towards PM Modi’s call for Swachh Bharat– an attempt to create a cleaner, better and progressive India. Following government’s declaration of 2,329 ‘Open Defecation Free’ gram panchayats in Rajasthan, this time, it is the state-appointed government officers, who made an attempt to fulfil Bapu’s dream on his 147th Birthday.
Despite 2nd October being a Sunday this year, all government commissionaires and staff including BDOs (Block officers) and SDOs (Sub-divisional Officers) from Water Department, Jaipur, actively participated in the ‘Clean India Campaign’ this time thereby changing common public misconception that government officers do not work at the weekends.
According to Mr. Ajay Singh Rathode (Superintendent Engineer, Water Department, Jaipur), Officers employed in Panipech, Vidyadyar Nagar and Mistrikhana offices were active participants in this mission. Unlike the other days, all officers and staff arrived early in their offices on Sunday to commence the cleaning activity. On a surprising note, it was a ‘full attendance day’ in the department, with all members from high-rank holders to attendants and helpers present on spot.
Files were organized and kept neatly in the racks, cupboards were dusted and cabins were cleaned in the office. All people present on this occasion vowed to avoid plastic bags for domestic or commercial purpose and inspired others to do the same. If we go by Mr. Rathode’s words, the employees have decided to continue this mission for rest of the month. Even the department will take appropriate measures to set strict parameters for cleanliness in the office. Existing procedures shall be reformed for better results. Competent staff shall be appointed for conducting surprise inspections in various offices. The department will keep full tabs on the mission, at every step.
Likewise, the officers from southern wing that is Jyoti Nagar, Jagatpura, Mansarovar, Gandhi Nagar took intensive measures to clean their workplace, as informed by Superintendent Engineer Dr. Anurag Prasad. The staff was directed to keep their cubicles neat and tidy since the first day of October. Efforts were made to strengthen the existing housekeeping procedures. In line with these reforms, Additional Chief Engineer Mr. Ashok Garg surveyed the office building and helped his subordinates organize important files and papers in their respective cupboards. Except for a few, nearly all the officers were present in the office and they zealously participated in the cleaning activities.
All the aforesaid offices were brushed up and sparkling by the afternoon. It was an unexpected happening for those, who believe that government office proceedings are usually slow and the officers rarely move a leg. All in all, the state officers inspired millions of us to make a change around us, after all, it is the little steps that count!
