On Thursday, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje along with Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag inaugurated the Walk through War Museum near the Jaipur’s Amar Jawan Jyoti. On the occasion Urban Development Minister Rajpal Singh Shekhawat was also present along with many residents of the city. Museum which has been constructed is in ‘C’ shape and has a total of 20 cubicles and aligns with Amar Jawan Jyoti monument and the entry of Sawai Man Singh Stadium.
An official from JDA said, “A separate place on the other side of the museum was created for visitors to sit and enjoy the shows.”
After the inauguration, CM Raje, Army chief and other dignitaries along with the audience witnessed the beautifully presented exhibition that provided vital information about the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy. Also highlights were shown of the weapons and equipment used by the armies of the state from 1948 to 1999 in the Kargil War and some glimpses or the war itself. On the occasion, CM Raje appreciated the display of information, paintings, and other artistic creations in the museum. Later the CM along with Army chief and other dignitaries observed the light and sound show, band performance by the ‘Gorkha Rifle’, dance presentations and night LED display band.
The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has constructed 20 cubical enclosures giving different details of Army, soldiers and warriors including Maharana Pratap. The government has spent Rs 5 crore for the project.
“The museum will throw light on life of martyrs, and highlight how they fought wars and sacrificed their lives. The ammunition and artillery they used and information about different wars will also be provided to the visitors at the museum,” a senior JDA official said.
“Two enclosures have been earmarked for shops. Visitors could purchase items such as caps, flags, etc., at one of the shops. Whereas, manure and fertilizers will be sold at the second shop,” he added.
Health Minister Rajendra Rathore, Agriculture Minister Prabhulal Saini, Higher Education Minister Kalicharan Sarraf, Public Health and Engineering Minister Kiran Maheshwari, Industry Minister Khinwsar Gajendra Singh, Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies Minister Hemsingh Bhadana and Council members, legislators, Army Commander Lt. General Command Southwest Sarat Chandra and senior officers of the army and police and administration were also present in the event.
