Finally, 87 Rajasthan’s camels are coming back home, a place they love and a place they come from. Credit for this good news goes to Operation Karuna under which these camels were rescued while they were made to cross Karnataka-Telangana Border in June. The operation was monitored by People For Animals, Hyderabad.
Yesterday on 27th July, it took 8 hours to load all the camels in 21 trucks via help of JCB cranes. After this, the camels are now traveling towards their home in Sirohi, Rajasthan.
Reethi Bharadwaj, from People For Animals, Hyderabad, who also played an important part in Operation Karuna said, “It will be a five long day journey for the camels. The trucks will move at 20 to 30 km/hr. Though the camels are in a much better condition we still need to be extremely careful while transporting them.”
She added that, “With collaborative efforts from many non-governmental organisations like Bharatiya Pranimitra Sangh, Greater Hyderabad Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GHSPCA) and volunteers, People For Animals (PFA) raised enough money and has started the process of moving the camels home.”
