Tourism is undoubtedly one of the most important parts of the economy. Tourism is a crucial industry that could employ a huge number of skilled workers. Putting tourism on a sustainable path is a major challenge, requiring partnership and cooperation within the tourism industry and between the industry, government and tourist themselves. The travel and tourism industry is the lifeblood of many states around the country also including Rajasthan. Chief Minister of the state, Smt. Vasundhara Raje has put in her every possible effort to make Rajasthan one of the most visited states throughout the country. Nothing went in vain as Rajasthan ranked the 6th best tourist destination in Asia. CM Raje says, “The Rajasthan government is making all efforts for “multi-dimensional development” of the tourism sector in view of possibilities of growth of heritage travel in the state.”

 “The state government is focusing on creation of a pleasant environment for domestic and foreign tourists along with new centres of attraction by way of organizing fairs, festivals, celebrations and other such events,” she said. CM Raje was in Udaipur on Sunday where while addressing the inaugural session of 5th Annual Convention of Indian Heritage Hotels Association (IHHA) she said, “With presence of various factors of heritage tourism like art, folk culture, tradition and history, Rajasthan Tourism is a choice of all international and domestic travellers.”

“The state is home to 70 per cent heritage properties in the country and efforts are being made to give this legacy a new identity by way of organizing various national and international events on public private partnership mode which yielded encouraging results,” she added.

On the occasion, the IHHA president, Gaj Singh advised the Union Tourism Ministry for framing a national policy to promote heritage tourism. Also, the chief minister called upon the members of the industry to look into the innovation in conservation of heritage and development of tourism. She also asked the concerned to give suggestions in this regard. Her commendable work for the tourism industry is taking Rajasthan to greater heights and the tourism industry is flourishing like never before.
