There are Assembly elections in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh later this year. As Ashok Parnami has resigned from the position of Rajasthan’s BJP chief so the new chief is to be appointed. Madhya Pradesh chief Nand Kumar Chauhan and their Andhra Pradesh chief K. Hari Babu had all resigned last week. But, Madhya Pradesh got it new state chief. This appointment should have been done but still pending. The disagreements between Chief Minister of Rajasthan and President of the Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Shah over the Rajasthan unit of BJP have not been resolved.

Who are faces of new BJP Rajasthan Chief?
There are three names. The first is of Bikaner MP and Union Minister of State (MoS) for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Arjun Ram Meghwal. The other name is that of Jodhpur MP and Union MoS for Agriculture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Third is state Cabinet Minister Shrichand Kriplani.

As per the sources, Vausndhara Raje is unhappy with the choice and she has her own recommendation of Shrichand Kriplani while Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is close to Amit Shah.

Reasons for making Shrichand Kriplani as BJP state chief
It says that Rajasthan state has a strong casteism and it is important to consider the caste equation while choosing the new state unit chief. Meenas, Rajputs, Jats, Gujjars and Dalits constitute significant vote banks in the state.
Shekhawat is a Rajput who will attract that community only. Arjun Meghwal, a dalit can also be suitable for the post. Shrichand Kriplani is a Sindhi and his appointment would not antagonize Jats or Rajputs.

In the meeting between Shah and Raje, BJP General Secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal and Joint General Secretary (Organisation) V Satish were also present.
