UPSC ’15 topper Tina Dabi has been allotted Rajasthan Cadre

Madhya Pradesh girl Tina Dabi, who attracted much fame for becoming UPSC topper 2015 in her first attempt, will serve the state of Rajasthan. Though her first choice was Haryana, Tina Dabi got Rajasthan cadre as her first posting.

This was informed through a list released by the Ministry of Personnel. Along with Tina Dabi, the second and third topper, Athar Amir Ul Shafi Khan and Jasmeet Singh Sandhu have also been allotted Rajasthan cadre.

Hearing this news Dabi told the media that, “When we appear for the civil services it is already clear that it is an all India services and we can be posted anywhere. And being part of the civil services is an opportunity in itself.

Yes I did want to be in Haryana and work on gender equality but the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has a very transparent process and when it released a list of vacancies in the first week of June, there were no vacancies (for SC category postings) in Haryana. Hence, I knew I was not going to be posted in Haryana.”

Her inclination towards Haryana was quite evident as after the results came out she expressed saying, “What is actually holding Haryana back is its patriarchal mindset and the gender inequality, which is a subject very close to my heart, since I am a woman from a progressive family and have also studied in a college that lays great emphasis on gender equality, so that is something I want to change about the state.”
