13 years old Tanya Rathi crossed all the hurdles in her path and became the youngest participant at 500 kms European Peace Walk.

Originally from Udaipur, Tanya Rathi completed the 500 km European Peace Walk (EPW), which took her across 6 countries in a span of 17 days. The walkathon began on 5th June and ended on 22nd June.

Tanya Rathi was also accompanied by her father Vinay Rathi and it was a thrilling and unforgettable experience for both of them.  Tanya got extensively trained for this event.

In her journey of 500 km, she walked across 6 European countries including Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy.

The European Peace Walk began approximately 100 years ago after the First World War and is held to honor the peace and prosperity of the European continent.  This walk is an example of a world without boundaries.

On 5th June Tanya’s walk started from Sopron in Hungary. Tanya and her father completed the 500 km walk traversing through Vienna in Austria, Varajdeen in Croatia, Jubjana in Slovenia with the walk culminating at Trieste, Italy. This route took them across many lively cities and towns of Europe, where they closely encountered the rich cultural heritage of Europe.  Tanya was accompanied with her co-participants from various countries like Iceland, Britain, USA, Denmark etc in this unique experience.

Walking across cultural boundaries and countries made the participants experience the situation like having breakfast in Hungary, lunch in Slovenia and dinner with a night out in Croatia. This walk is dedicated to humanity and cross boundaries interaction. It allowed people from various cultures, and various age groups to get together, meet residents in various towns and give and take introductions.

Tanya and Vinay along with their other members closely observed a variety of culture. Walking through farms, living in hostels, community centers, guest houses, was something that both the father and the daughter will cherish for a lifetime

Girls like Tanya are an inspiration for all of us. They teach us how to get through all the hurdles in life.  We are proud of her and her achievement. We sincerely wish this Udaipur girl all the best for all her future endeavors.
