Bird Park to be made at Gulab Bagh Udaipur

Rajasthan’s first bird park is going to be opened in Udaipur soon, for which preparations are going on at full speed. As per the latest updates, the parrot enclosure has been already built while the construction of Emu section has been started. According to the Forest Guardian Rahul Bhatnagar, the aim is to finish off the Udaipur bird park before the deadline and hence the work has been put on its full swing.

Talking about the parrots’ enclosure, it will have 10 sections in which different varieties of parrots will be kept. As soon as the parrots’ section was completed, the forest department submitted a design and instructed the authorities to gear up for the Emu section.

Udaipur Bird Park Species

The state’s first bird park will be opened in Gulab Bagh, which is the largest garden of the lake city. Spread across 100 hectares of land, the bird park will accommodate 5.11 hectares. Overall, there will be 11 birdhouses sheltering birds like parrots, owl, vulture, falcon, emu, and so on. If reports are to be believed, some species include Emperor Goose, White Stork, Victoria Crowned pigeon, Military Macau, Dusky Lory, etc.

Talking particularly about the parrots, there will be:

• Asian- Alexandrine Parakeet, Red Browed, Plum Headed, Rose-Ringed

• African- Senegal, Grey- Parrot,

• Australian- Barraband, Rock Pebbler, Sulphur Crested Cockatoo

• American- Blue and Gold Macaws, Sun Conure

Other Details

There will also be a water bird area, caged enclosures, free zone, bird hospital, watch tower and a learning centre with public facilities. The bird park will not only help in promoting local tourism but it will also serve as an excellent center and platform for studying birds and the culture. Besides, it will also aid in the reproductive program for the Green Avadavat bird species.

Udaipur Bird Park Incurred Cost

It’s built at the estimated cost of INR 11.49 Crores, out of which the tourism department has contributed NR 8 Crores to the project. Besides, the Municipal Corporation and Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) have contributed INR 1.75 Crores and INR 1.74 Crores, respectively.
