The south eastern railway has decided to reintroduce the long distance express train between Shalimar and Jaipur, to check the heavy rush of the passengers during the festive season.  This express train will run via Tatanagar station from 18 September. The passengers can avail this facility for 2 months. This Shalimar Jaipur express train was earlier introduced in March this year and ran until the end of June.

While covering a distance of 1836 Km, the express train will stop at few selected junctions such as Kharagpur, Tatanagar, Chakradharpur, Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Bilaspur, Pendra Road, Katni, Murwara, Damoh, Sagour, Guna, Kota, Bansthali Niwai, Durgapura, and Jaipur.

According to the notification issued by the headquarters of south eastern railways, the train will leave Shalimar at 8.20 pm in the evening and will arrive at Tatanagar at 12.10 am. Following a two minute halt, it will reach Jaipur at 6.35 am, following a 34-hour journey.

In its return journey, the train will leave Jaipur at 12.45 pm and arrive at Tatanagar at 7.05 pm in the evening. The train will reach the last destination at 11.20 pm.

The Shalimar Jaipur express train consists of 18 coaches, ten of which are AC 3 Tier and six are AC 2 tier. The remaining two coaches are there for housing 300 KV capacity diesel generator sets.

This Shalimar Jaipur express train is a special train which has been introduced to ensure smooth travel experience for the commuters.  The fare of the train includes supplementary charges and tariff will also be levied.

Earlier there was no direct train to Jaipur from Tatanagar. Keeping in view the need of the traders Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry demanded the Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu for the introduction of this express train.

This train will be of great help to a large number of people from Rajasthan who are settled in Kolhan and often travel to Jaipur and the surrounding towns.
