Shilpgram Udaipur

The City of Lakes Udaipur has begun preparations for the Shilpgram Utsav that is scheduled to take place on 21st December and will go on until 30th December. The event will be organized by Governor of Rajasthan Kalyan Singh. The framework of the fair has already been prepared. In the Shilpgram Utsav, various artists from across the country will be presenting their unique creations of folk art and handicrafts.

Shilpgram Art & Craft Fair

Hundreds of stalls will be set up and Haat bazaar will be organized at the fair whereby several pieces of handicrafts will be exhibited and sold. In a meeting conducted by ADM Subhash Chandra Sharma, the officers concerned to the respective departments were given instructions and directions regarding the preparations for the fair.

Moving on to the art section, the famous artists from Kolkata’s Midnapur village named Ashish Pal and Sukhdev Das will be showcasing pieces made of mud and wood. These will be displayed at all the major spots of Shilpgram, two days prior to the opening day. Besides, the event will be charged up by several cultural programs including Kalbeliya, Terah Taali, and much more.

Preparations in progress at Shilpgram

In the meeting, the Director of West Zone Cultural Centre Udaipur Furkaan Khan informed the officers about the preparations. Interestingly, the event enjoys a footfall of around 1 lakh and is quite popular not just among the local tourists but among people coming from the nearby cities as well. Besides, the ADM Sharma also said that since the fair is quite important for the city, the preparations should be equally efficient.

In order to ensure public convenience, the authorities will ensure a one-way route for four wheelers. Besides, a police control room will be set up and additional CCTV cameras will be installed for the security of the visitors. Proper arrangements have also been made to keep the area clean which is being handled by the Nagar Nigam.
