Pulpier breed of Custard Apple

The face of Rajasthan is changing in the constructive leadership of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje as she is not only determined by the growth and prosperity of Rajasthan but is also focused on making Rajasthan a greener state where people have high Happiness Index and they enjoy a batter living standard. Where ever she goes, whatever she does, there is only one agenda on her mind – Development of Rajasthan in a unique way in every possible manner.

We can say this so surely because of the latest innovation in Rajasthan. The story begins from Nagaur city of Maharashtra, where CM had a visit one year back. There she noticed a one of a kind breed of “Custard Apple” which was not only bigger in size to the custard apples in Rajasthan but also pulpier. This breed is known as ‘Saraswati Sevan’ in Nagaur and weighs around 350 to 400 grams per piece. Since then she wanted to cultivate its farming in Rajasthan so that the farmers could yield a quality product and have higher incomes.

Hence, keeping in mind the benefit and golden future of Rajasthan’s farmers, she directed Rajasthan Agriculture Research Institute to study the samples of the fruit plant and conduct an in-depth study to find the prospects of its successful cultivation by farmers in Rajasthan.

According to the officials, the fruit is not only pulpier but also have smaller seeds. The outer layer of the fruit is much thinner as compared to other varieties thus a study was being conducted on the breed in RARI for which the sample saplings were brought from Maharashtra.

The initial saplings will be planted in the Nanta area of Kota district as the breed best grows in dry and hot climate, requires light soil along the slope of a hill. It takes around 3-4 years for the plant to grow.

Custard Apple is grown in Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Banswara, Rajsamand and Jhalawar area of the state. In 2015-16, custard apple was sawn on 524.44 hectares and the entire produce was 6,121 metric tons.

It is the eutaxy of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje that such a quality Custard Apple breed will now be cultivated in Rajasthan. Not just this, her team officials have also confirmed that a ‘Centre of Excellence’ would also be developed in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh for the benefit of farmers.

Also, we all know about Global Rajasthan Agritech Meet been organized by CM Vasundhara Raje and her team on a huge platform for awareness and education of more than 55000 farmers of Rajasthan as well as neighbouring states. The 3-day event would be attended by Israel, Netherlands, Australia, etc. who are world leaders in the agriculture, horticulture and dairy industry. Experts from these countries would visit to educate our farmers on issues like how to increase the yield from a small land and drip irrigation. GRAM, 2016 is scheduled for November 9 – 11, 2016 at Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre (JECC) at Sitapura in Jaipur for the learning and growth of farmers.
