The Times Travel Award 2018 award ceremony was held in New Delhi whereby the award for ‘Best Marketing Initiative’ was given to Rajasthan’s Tourism Department’s Additional Director Gunjeet Kaur.

The other one was the Best Print Media Creatives Award that was given away to Rajasthan Tourism department’s Additional Director Sanjay Pandey by Brand Equity, the marketing and advertising magazine of Economic Times.

The Rajasthan Tourism Department was also praised by CM Vasundhara Raje. She said that the department has bagged around 47 awards in the past 4 years. Considering that the state had already achieved the target of more than 47 million tourists by 2017 end, it seems like the target of 50 million tourists by 2020 would be rather easy to accomplish.

Apart from excelling at its creative marketing and media tactics, the department is also planning to add diversity to its tourism products. The state has sent a proposal to the Centre under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme for establishing new tourist circuits to create new opportunities in eco-tourism, tribal tourism, and desert tourism.
