After the Maharashtra High Court ordered that no IPL 2016 matches could be played in the stadiums situated in the state and thus the team must select an alternative home ground for the approaching matches of the tournament. BCCI (Board of Cricket Council of India) then gave three options to the team to select from which included Jaipur, Raipur and Nagpur. Mumbai Indians allegedly selected Jaipur as their alternative ground and for the same the BCCI officials and team members came to Rajasthan lately to talk to the state government.
The state government after the meeting with the BCCI officials and Mumbai Indians team members had approved playing 3 matches in the Sawai Man Singh Stadium situated in the pink city Jaipur. Maintenance work since the approval has been started in the ground.
