Reports suggest that two new escalators have been equipped at the Udaipur Railway Station to ensure passengers’ convenience. These escalators can carry 100 passengers and operate at the speed of 0.5 m/sec. Ultra-modern techniques in the form of microprocessor-based contact and automatic rescue device have been fitted with the escalators. In case a failure occurs during the operation, the automatic brakes will halt the escalators.

There are also a lot of safety features equipped with the escalators like step motion device, overload detection, electromagnetic breaking, emergency switch, handrail safety etc. Moving on, a foot overbridge has been installed between platform no. 2 and 3 with the carrying capacity of 20 people at a time.

Apart from the above-mentioned facilities, some fitments have also been equipped by a Haryana Based company whereby there is no role of the government. Under the Power Purchase Agreement with the Railways that has been signed for 25 years, a solar power plant of 100 KWP has been installed at Platform no 4 and 5.

Owing to the solar power plants, now the Railway department will have to pay for electricity at the rate of INR 5.50 per unit instead of INR 7 per unit, which would save INR 1.5 per unit. The solar power plant will enable the generation of around 4.48 Lakh units per year that would save INR 6.57 Lakh per year. Moreover, this would reduce the carbon footprint by around 400 tons.
