The dream project of Patanjali’s Ramdev Baba i.e. setting up a Yog Peeth, Gurukul, Ayurveda Hospital, Ayurvedic pharmaceutical unit and a gaushala in Rajasthan has been put on halt. Rajasthan High Court has ordered a stay on this project which is going in Karuali district in the state. Know more.

For this project, land was required. Hence, the Bharat Swabhiman Trust of Baba Ramdev and the Govind Devji trust had done a lease agreement of 20 years for 401 bigha land in 2016. On the petition of Ram Kumar Singh, who challenged the agreement, the court put the stay on the project.

In this case, single-judge bench of Justice SP Sharma, said no possession, construction and lease agreement will be executed for the land, and has instructed the Devesthan Commissioner to ensure compliance with the order. In this matter, the court asked Devesthan department to protect the properties of Govind Dev ji temple. The temple trust has 729 bighas of agriculture land in Karuali district.

The project caused a major issue as the land in question is agriculture land and without changing the land use category. Hence, this project cannot be proceeded further. As per the provisions of the Rajasthan Tenancy Act, a temple land belongs to the idol installed. The temple idol is considered as a perpetual minor. According to the law, the land registered under name of minor cannot be sold or rented out.

The foundation stone for Ramdev’s project had been laid by CM Vasundhara Raje on 22 April, 2018. The project cost around ₹ 500 crore.
