It is a great news that Dr. Neeraj Dahiya of Bikaner has been selected for the Sahitya Akademi Award. He is the eminent writer of Rajasthani language. Along with Dr. Neeraj Dahiya, 24 writers from various languages will be given Sahitya Akademi awards in 2017. This meeting was chaired by Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari. The awards will be given in the annual festival held on February 12, 2018 in New Delhi.
How the awardees selected?
The awards have been selected based on the recommendations of the three member judicial committees. This year, seven novels, five poetry collections, five story collections, five critiques, a play and an essay have been chosen by the committee. For awards, the books published from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2015 are chosen. Each authored in the award will be given 1 lakh rupees, a souvenir and a certificate of appreciation.
Sahitya Akademi Award
The Sahitya Akademi Award is a literary honor in India. This is the award conferred by Sahitya Akademi, India’s National Academy of Letters. The works of writers must be published in any of the major Indian languages (24 languages) recognised by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
