Union health ministry launched eRaktkosh. This is a central website and mobile application. The main aim of launching this web portal is to systematize the working of the blood banks. Blood banks in the state work independently. This app will make them to work as a network of blood banks and not independently. This has been directed by the National Blood Transfusion Council (NBTC).

On April 7, 2016 eRaktkosh was inaugurated by by Union health minister JP Nadda. This centralized blood inventory management system will help in keeping track of the blood stock across state.

In Jaipur city, there is a workshop organized on transfusion medicine: policies and relevance by Blood Banks Society, Rajasthan. At this the director of NBTC, Dr Shobini Rajan shared that this step of blood transfusion in bulk would ensure the availability of blood of particular group. She also asked all blood banks of Rajasthan to connect with eRaktkosh. This web portal will help as patients as they will get the blood by not putting much effort.

New Provisons for blood banks
As per the new provisions, private hospitals can now organise blood donation camps. This make them free from dependence on blood replacement. Blood replacement means to get blood available to a patient, patient’s family or known has to donate blood for blood bank.
