State government came up with an ambitious, novel method of addressing documentation issues in rural Rajasthan so that villagers can directly avail benefits of state policies.

This Friday witnessed the inauguration of Rajasthan Government’s novel ‘people welfare’ camps, in the memory of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay– philosopher, political scientist and the forerunner of Bhartiya Janta Sangh, who dedicated a greater part of his life for mass welfare. In the honour of his generous spirit, two-fold camps would be organized at Gram Panchayats by District Panchayat Committee every Friday at 9:30 am (until the day end) for next 6 months.

The Objective behind Organizing these Camps at Village Level

The idea is to bring 16 different government departments on a common platform in an attempt to resolve villager’s grievances associated with documentation procedure for major policies including Krishak Sathi Yojana, Bhamashah Yojana, Kisan Kaleva Yojana, Free Medicine Distribution and Irrigation through sprinkler and drip scheme.

The camps were organized in 295 villages in first phase, wherein government officials from different departments were present on spot to inform villagers about different schemes and to commence registration process for the same.

Different locations where camps started under the supervision of Ministers in charge of districts include villages coming under Bikaner, Bheelwada, Ajmer, Alwar, Dausa, Jaipur, Udaypur, Indirapur, Dhaulpur, Bharatpur, Boondi, Baara, Jalore, Umrai, Talwada, Jhaalawad, Kota, Badmer, Dungarpur districts. Rajasthan government plans to include more locations to the list to cover maximum population in the state.

Services Offered at the Camps

  • Medical and Healthcare

Medical officers will educate and enrol villagers for state government policies, mainly Bhama Shah Swaasthya Beema Yojana and Janani Suraksha Beema Yojana (health insurance for women). Free clinical check-ups and medicines will be provided to villagers in medical camps. To help young girls combat physical and psychological problems associated with teenage, women experts will offer them free consultation services and sanitary napkins to ensure health and hygiene inside villages. Attempts will be made to reach out to handicapped people, by issuing them disability certificates. They can use this certificate to avail medical benefits.

  • Child Welfare

‘Aanganbaadi’ Centres functioning in the state will extend the benefits of girl centric policies like Rajshree Yojana to little daughters in Rajasthan. Moreover, social activist will offer nutrition counselling, vaccination, medicines, toys, books, uniforms to students enrolled in village schools. Legal paperwork concerning change in name, registration of students for admissions and scholarships will be executed at these camps.

Using these cards, natives can avail direct benefits of legal transactions, scholarships, pensions, free ration, NAREGA schemes and centre funded insurance schemes (Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana, Mudra Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana).

  • Conservation

Through these camps, Forest Department officials will plant minimum 10 trees near local water bodies every Friday, in accordance with Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Yojana to maintain clean and fresh surroundings.

  • Agriculture & Irrigation

Government officers will encourage villagers to take up alternate sources of income, namely cattle rearing, poultry etc. through Bhama Shah Pashu Yojana. Living conditions in villages will be uplifted through Jan Jatiya Kshetriya Vikas Yojana. Other than these, government will educate farmers about latest agricultural technologies and provide them necessary resources for its implementation. Villagers will be encourage to shop at fair-price shops ‘Annapurna Bhandar’ that fulfil all their nutritional requirements.

Officers received an overwhelming response by public that was excited regarding on-going activities at camp site. In near future, government will try to include more policies to the existing list. The concept behind Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay camps is advanced. With the successful inauguration of this concept, Rajasthan government becomes the first one of its kind to reach its people in times of need.
