Arvind Kejriwal

Delhi municipal polls are few days away and Aam Aadmi Party has started putting its demand forward. The polls, which will conduct on April 23 in country’s capital, have started catching the enough attention.  The Delhi CM has demanded that the voting should be conducted only through VVPAT machines in place of EVMs.

With this appeal, they seek complete retreat from EVM machines.

SK Shrivastava, the state election commissioner received letter from the AAP convener and Arvind Kejriwal (Delhi Chief Minister) mentioning that all the political parties must get the chance to go through the EVMs and check if they have any technical issue with them.

Kejriwal mentioned that, “All EVMs sourced from Rajasthan should be immediately withdrawn as they have been tampered with. All state and nationally recognised parties should be allowed technical examination of some of the EVMs, which are being used for MCD elections. MCD elections should be held only and only with VVPAT machines”.

Since long, the Aam Aadmi Party is throwing temper tantrums over the use of EVMs in the elections.

This year’s assembly elections didn’t go so well for them and since then only they are protesting strongly against the use of these machines. In Punjab, AAP was quiet confident about forming a government but lagged behind Congress and in Goa, it got almost extinct.

From some past few weeks, Kejriwal is asking to bring the use of ballot paper back for elections held in the future.

He even demanded to put the dates of Delhi Municipal polls forward and requested the same from election commission. This was demanded to give some time if the mode of election needs a change.

He even put a question on SEC for getting the first generation EVMs from Rajasthan state when there are enough EVM machines in Delhi to run the municipal elections.
