Two youths were arrested on Friday for allegedly beating two Kashmiri students of Mewat University.

A couple of days after the Kashmiri students were beaten up at the Rajasthan’s Mewar University. Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Friday ensured that the culprits will be punished.

“Kashmiri students are our children. The Police have taken prompt action and apprehended the culprits,” Raje tweeted.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh condemned the attack and appealed to all state governments to ensure the safety of Kashmiris living in different parts of the country.

“I appeal to everyone to ensure the safety of Kashmiri students living in other parts of the country. Kashmiris are a part of our family,” he tweeted, adding that action should be taken by the states against those who target them.

Rajnath said he has asked the home ministry officials to circulate an advisory in this regard. Not only this, the ministry of home affairs has launched an exclusive helpline number for the people of Jammu and Kashmir living in other parts of the country.

“I have come to know that there were a few incidents of misbehaviour towards Kashmiris in some places. I appeal to all chief ministers to ensure the security of Kashmiris,” Rajnath told to media.

Abdul Rufwar and Adil Ayub studying at Mewat University in Chittorgarh district had gone to Gangwar town, 7 km from the varsity campus. The duo was on a shopping spree. On Wednesday, they had asked for more space on the road. However, post their request, they were harshly beaten up on Friday.

FIR was filed at the Gangrar Thana in the early hours of Thursday. The police immediately arrested the two 25 year old youths — Manish and Sohan Lal. The police has arrested them under Section 323 and 341 of the IPC and 151 of the CrPC, he said.

A mob clashed with a few Kashmiri students of Mewar university after they were allegedly tagged as “stone pelters”. Additionally, the mob vented their angst against the CRPF jawan who was portrayed as being mishandled in the Kashmir Valley.
