India’s national accreditation body, the APOF Organic Certification Agency (AOCA) certified Gati as Rajasthan’s first fully organic farming community covering all its 290 farm families and their village fields. Since AOCA approval is globally recognized, Gati crops and products can now all be marketed internationally with the organic tag.

An organic farmer named Pannalal Patel, who hails from Bedla, 75 km away from Gati played the role of a fulcrum for transforming the village into an organic village. “I was struck by the beauty of this village sitting near Jaisamand lake, when I visited it four years ago. I decided to make it a model village,” said Patel.Mr. Pannalal Patel congratulated all Gati Gaum farmers, especially women for their incredible efforts to make Gati Gaum what it is today. The villagers have understood that organic farming is the fulcrum for a healthy and prosperous state. Taking inspiration from this success, the JJVS initiated the first women-owned organic production center in Mewar.
