It was mentioned by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje that the international-level underpass would be a significant thing for walled city Jaipur. It will also help in restoring of charm of old city. This would also help in de-congesting traffic as well as reducing the pollution in the Walled City. As Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Sanganeri Gate and Jorawar Singh Gate are one of the crowded areas of the city so this tunnel would help. This would also help the commuters to move easily. This all was mentioned by CM Raje in her budget speech.

This is not the first time the discussion on this tunnel has been started. Back in November 2016, a pre-feasibility report was submitted by a private consultant agency. This agency was appointed by JMRC.
