We can’t deny the grave need of women safety in our country. Where India is a growing nation, women still have to think twice before thinking and acting free here. A folly-less set of safety and security for women is the foremost priority of authorities. Grasping the need of the hour, Jaipur police is soon going to launch woman patrolling squad. The group which is similar to UP’s Anti-Romeo Squad will conduct punishments for the eve-teasers in the city. The women cops will set the lesson for eve-teasing and set standards for women safety.
The teams will not only detain the youths and men which are into eve-teasing but also the harassers of the women will be handed over to the police station of the area.
Special and intricate training has been given to this special cops team of women safety.
Prafful Kumar, who is additional commissioner of police said, “”They will work in two shifts and will patrol on a bike across the city. We will finalize the sites and spots where they will roam around in the city to help the girls and women”.
Two cop groups with 12 woman cops will take the charge riding on motorbikes. They will be deployed for the shifts of 8-8 hours every day in rotations.
Kumar also added, “During day time the team would be asked to patrol in the areas including public places like shopping malls and also in schools and colleges of the city. Their job would be intervention when they spot something against a woman or a girl. It they find there is something wrong, they will directly intimate the police control room and the accused would be directly handed over to the police station concerned”.
They have been specifically instructed not get involved in any unexpected drama like Anti-romeo groups of UP did. A senior officer promptly mentioned, “We have constituted this team just to facilitate women and not to create any drama or extra hype on it”.
The officer also added, “Any girl or a woman who is continuously being troubled by a youth or men can directly call up the helpline number and remain anonymous if she so desires. In such cases if the woman or a girl do not want to come directly into the picture by lodging an FIR, we will arrest such youths for disturbing peace”.
Any girl or woman in need of help will be required to dial 1090.
