Hariyali Teej, also known as Shravani Teej, is one of the most important festivals of the state of Rajasthan. This festival is really special for married Hindu women. How Rajasthan celebrate Hariyali Teej?
In Rajasthan, the excitement of Teej festival is watchable. Talking about Teej, women of all age group loves to celebrate Teej. Women like to dress up in beautiful attires. Lehariya also holds a great significance on this festival. Group of girls and women sing songs and ride the swings.

There is great significance of savouring ghevar and apply henna patterns on hands. Married women receive gifts, sweets, jewellery and dresses from their in-laws. This all is popularly known as ‘sinjara’. The girls who got engaged and going to get married soon also receive ‘sinjara’ as blessing from in-laws.

Women wear green colour bangles and perform pooja. On this occasion, women also observe fast for well-being of husbands. Unmarried girls keep fast for a suitable groom. In fact, the procession of Teej is carried out in few cities of Rajasthan.

Hindu Mythology
This year, it is falling on 13th August i.e. Monday. It has become more special this time as today is the third Monday of Shravan month. As per the Hindu mythology, Goddess Parvati worshipped and took 108 re-births to get married to lord Shiva. Finally, on the day of Hariyali Teej, lord Shiva accepted Parvati as his consort. This day commemorates love and dedication of Goddess Parvati towards Lord Shiva.
