As the liquor ban has become a rage in the country, Rajasthanis are also become highly vocal about their willingness and desire to ban liquor shops in state. People from a battery of villages are making their voices heard. Their demands of getting liquor banned is getting due attention from the government too.

Due to the pressing need for banning liquor shops in Rajasthan, villagers also initiated protests, jammed roads and also locked wine shops. The country is also in a disarray as to How and When will liquor shops be banned in the country.

The Rajasthan government is also supporting the move. However, loss of livelihood for the shop owners is the only prime concern which is thwarting expeditious movement towards this issue.

The major protestors were women. These women were raising demanding slogans, while they had blocked roads, thereby hampering vehicle movement. Not only this, liquor shops were shut down by these women.

Many areas have suffered due to this. Nonetheless, villages in Jamvaramgarh in Jaipur district, Dungarpur, Ratangarh and Barmer districts rose in support of women’s demands.

Rajasthan Excise Department officials, however, claimed that they were unaware of any such protests. “We do not have list of such villages or areas where people are protesting for shutdown of liquor shops,” State Excise Commissioner, OP Yadav said.

To mitigate this issue at the earliest, the Rozda panchayat devised a way. Five major villages of Rozda panchayat of Amber tehsil conducted voting sessions to assess the favourability of this move at the ground level.

As the whole country is mulling over this decisive move, rumours are all rife that slaughter houses  of the country will also be banned. After Yogi Adityanath took office in Uttar Pradesh and issued strict orders to shun all illegal slaughter houses of the state, chiefs of many there states have supported  the move. Even Rajasthan ministry supported the move. Hence, a ban on illegal slaughter houses and wine shops is likely to happen soon in the state.
