The recent sensation across the world, Segway has now got its new Avatar in the Desert state. Rajasthan dwellers can now savour the ‘Segway-sensation’ at historic sites like Amer and Nahargarh forts. Isn’t it a double treat for all visitors?

Apart from riding elephants, visitors will relish the Segway ride. The battery-operated Segway scooters will accentuate the adventure quite at the historic sites along with encouraging eco-friendly initiatives.

Juggernauts behind the initiative

The facility of Segway scooters will be available at the Amer and Nahargarh forts starting from today. The archaeological department inked an agreement with a private firm. The firm has been roped in to provide paid Segway scooter services at the forts.

Nihal Chand Goel, additional chief secretary, tourism department said, “Heritage is our core strength; this time we are introducing a small adventure activity (referring to the Segway ride) to entice tourists and provide them an enhanced experience.”

Expected Prices for Segway scooter ride

Initially, the scooter service will be provided at Jaleb Chowk in Amer and Nahargarh fort. Later, the company will expand and strengthen its operations across other designated areas.

  • Fare: ₹200/ ride
  • Time: 11 am and  3:30 pm and after 5 pm

Central Aid for renovating Rajasthan

The union tourism department has provided an aid of Rs 99.60 towards the development, restoration and renovation of heritage hubs. The centre has provided this amount under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme for creating and renovating heritage circuits.

Locations in Jaipur to get a facelift

The Jaipur markets will soon be light up and illuminated with designer lights which will adorn areas like Hawa Mahal, gates of Jaleb Chowk and Tripolia, walls of Jantar Mantar, Tripolia Bazaar gate, and Kale Hanuman and Jama Mata Temples, Goel said. A sum of Rs 30 crore has been sanctioned by the central government for this purpose.

Among others, Kumbalgarh fort (Rajsamand), Nahargarh fort, Bala Fort (Alwar), Ranthambore and Khandar Fort (Sawai Madhopur), Gagron Fort (Jhalawar), Chittorgarh fort, Pratap Gaurav Kendra (Udaipur), and Meera Bai Temple (Nagaur) will get a facelift.
