In a bid to promote Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of cashless India, Mastercard and NDTV India came together to launch Cashless Bano India campaign in tier II and tier III cities in India. Under this campaign, a digital bus will tour different parts of India for 30 days to promote the center’s Digital India campaign. Having traveled major cities of North India, the digital bus finally stepped into the pink city today. This Tuesday, Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje flagged off the digital bus at her residence in capital city Jaipur.

What’s So Unique About NDTV’s Digital Bus?

NDTV and Mastercard have together launched this bus to generate public awareness regarding digital transactions and services in India. The bus will circulate all over the city to educate people about digital technologies. The van will cover major sites in the city, where a technical team will inform people on various digital and public services, including—

  • Aadhaar card,
  • Digi-lockers,
  • E-post,
  • Sewa Kendras,
  • E-hospital,
  • Farming Services etc.

Besides the technical team, local artists will visit Rajasthan villages to spread the message through art performances, street plays, skits and theme-based games for kids.

Cashless Bano India was launched in consultation with a high-decibel panel discussion that was attended by VIPs, such as:

  • Rajeev Anand (Executive Director, Axis Bank),
  • Amitabh Kant (CEO, Niti Aayog),
  • Praveen Khandelwal (General Secretary, Confederation of All India Traders),
  • Ari Sarker (Co-President, Mastercard),
  • Arvind Virmani (Former Chief Economic Adviser, Indian Government),
  • Vikram Chandra (Consulting Editor, NDTV India),
  • Sunil Mehta (CEO & MD, Punjab National Park).

The main idea behind launching the digital bus is to facilitate digital payments in public. Despite TV campaigns, the organizers believe that the on-ground campaign will produce sustainable results.
