CM Raje launched 'mMitra': A maternal care mobile service

On Thursday, 22nd July, CM Vasundhara Raje happily launched a mobile voice service named as mMitra in the district of Jhalawar. This new mobile voice service would perfectly cater all the important maternal concerns of citizens of Rajasthan. mMitra would make 145 deliveries of informative messages in Hindi. They will be related to pregnancy, family planning, childbirth, nutrition, maternal and care of the child. Not everyone who goes through this delicate phase of child planning and pregnancy is aware of the exact information about it. The messages will be of 2 minutes each and would disseminate information for child care up to 1 year olds.

The technology brought into use would be implemented through the Akshada Programme which has a partnership with Mumbai’s non-profit organization, Arrman.

CM Raje on the launch event said, mMitra is a free mobile voice call service (providing) culturally appropriate comprehensive information on preventive care and simple interventions to reduce maternal and infant mortality and morbidity. The voice calls are in Hindi, specific to the woman’s gestational age or the age of the infant and are sent weekly or twice a week.”

Operative proceses of this mobile service would begin first in 195 villages across Khanpur block in the Jhalawar District and gradually it would spread its wings.

All the families which will benefit form this new mobile voice service, are to be registered through ANM i.e Auxiliary Nurse Midwife. Till date, 1,000 women have successfully registered themselves in this service programme.
