Knowing that the Centre is going to implement GST next month, Junior Commercial Tax Officer Mr. Ashish Koolwaal authored a beginner’s guide to GST. Koolwal’s book, titled as ‘GST Law, Practice and Procedure’ sheds light on the GST (Goods and Services Tax) rule. The book was inaugurated by Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje at CM Residence in Jaipur today.

The book covers simplified info on GST laws, based on well-researched, analytically collected facts. Congratulating Koolwal on this accomplishment, the CM said this book would help citizens understand the impact of GST. Koolwal presented a copy of this book to the chief minister.

  • GST Taxes on Hotels & Restaurants Brought Down to 18%

The elite members of the hospitality sector took this occasion to thank the chief minister for sculpting GST rates on hotels, restaurants and tourism-centric organizations. Earlier, the government was levying an additional tax of 28% on rooms costing Rs 5000 and above. After the rules were amended, the GST taxes on 5-star hotels and AC restaurants were brought down to 18%.

Now, just 18% tax will be levied on rooms and bills falling between Rs 2500 and Rs 7500. 28% GST tax will be imposed on rooms and services costing above Rs 7500 and above. Mr. Bhim Singh (Secretary, Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan) and his colleagues expressed their gratitude towards the CM.

CM Raje flagged of Team 10’s Tree ambulance, moderated by Ms. Samta Mahendra Choudhary (MC Ward 10 member). The ambulances will carry tools and equipment for tree plantation. They’ll plant a tree in every 5 kilometers, under the ‘Go Green’ campaign.
