With the alarming escalation of fraudulent transactions across the country, the Rajasthan government has decided to spread awareness about the robbery and scrupulous activities in the Mewat region.

The decision came on the back of increasing activity by con men of Mewat region, who have been actively robbing people on the pretext of selling them vehicles.

In the wake of rising cases of perfidy in Bharatpur, the government has decided to hang up billboards in the city and the peripheral areas. This step aims at increasing public awareness on criminal practices.

The interesting part about these billboards is that victims and prospective victims hail from South India. Hence, Bharatpur officials decided to print these billboards in English.

The robbers stem from the gangs belonging to Kaman and Deeg of Bharatpur, Gopalgarh, Pahari, Deeg, and Kaman.

Anil Kumar Tak, Bharatpur superintendent of police said, “Whenever our men spot a vehicle with a registration number from another state, they check if they have come to buy vehicles advertised on OLX. In many instances, our men have advised people not to go as they could get robbed. We are planning to put up billboards in Bharatpur city and nearby areas, describing the modus operandi of these gangs to save people from being conned.”

These conmen often posted advertisements to sell used cars. The interested persons reached the address posted by the conmen and were robbed by these con men in the area, which had a discreet vicinity.

According to police, over 24 such cases have been registered in Bharatpur district over the past four months.

“We have not only busted gangs but also succeeded in recovering stolen goods, cash and jewelry robbed by these gangs. Our aim is to completely ‘dismantle’ these gangs in the coming months,” he added.
