In three Rajasthan districts, Bharatpur, Banswara and Bikaner, public health laboratories will be reopened. Principal approval has been given by health department for these laboratories. Apart from these three laboratories, some public health laboratories are approved by health department in Churu and Jalore.

Currently, there are six labs running which are situated near Kota, Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Alwar. Because of prevailing crunch in staff, many labs came to a halt from many place like Dungarpur, Banswara, Bikaner, Jhalawar, Bharatpur, Sri Ganganagar and Sikar.

Now, out of all these places, three labs have been re-opened.

As per the statement, a health department mentioned, Rs. 50 lakh have been approved for construction of each laboratory. In total, a sum of Rs. 2.5 crore has been approved for all the construction of five laboratories.

Apart from this, the department will also send proposal for all the hiring procedure for laboratories.

After all the seven food labs winded up, the number of food samples have increased rapidly. Among all the existing food laboratories, a food analyst is taking care of two laboratories. An officer mentioned that, they have to sign the report before any issue.

During the festive season, food samples are collected and sent to all the six running labs across the state. After the reopening of five laboratories, the burden from all these existing six labs will be reduced.

Kalicharan Saraf (Health Minister), who has very recently been given charge of the section, pointed that, he would make things hard for food adulteration in the state.

 

For conducting testing in these food laboratories, samples are collected from milk samples, sweet shops, other food products and edible oil in all different parts of the state by the food safety officers. The increased number of these laboratories will ensure elevated levels of food safety in the state.
